
Brian Conley
Brian Conley is an artist based in Oakland, California. From radio performance to sculptural, research-based, and collaborative installations, Conley’s artistic practice operates across the divides between science, art, and politics. Conley’s work is centrally concerned with the roots of social violence, the origins of language, and the relationship of animal to human consciousness. He has exhibited at the Whitney Museum, ArtBasel, MassMoCA, Wanas Foundation, and the ArtPace Foundation. Conley is founding co-editor with Sina Najafi of Cabinet Magazine. He was Chair of the Graduate Fine Art Program at California College of the Arts and Educational Adviser to Sada for Contemporary Iraqi Art. Last year, Conley was visiting artist and professor at the American University of Cairo. He is currently a professor in the graduate fine arts and sculpture programs of the California College of the Arts.
Conley was an instructor in FOR-SITE’s education program in 2015.
