Oblio Jenkins, Lecturer
Department of Architecture, California College of the Arts Advanced Design Studio, Fall 2007-Spring 2008 Site-Specific Design/Build This two-semester project connected students to nature and place in the context of a full exploration of the architectural design process. |
| Detail |
The fall semester explored the residency site from topographic, climatic, historical and poetic perspectives. The students created a master plan for the site that can be used as a road map for any future development of the property. Building on the master plan, the students selected three projects and locations for a design/build, and have created site models, scaled plans, elevations and models for the projects.
The spring semester focused on defining materials and construction techniques for the established designs. Working at full scale with construction mock-ups allowed the students to understand the physicality and presence of the design. |
